What: A 17th century Ethiopian manuscript of the four gospels, including portraits of the four evangelists and many other illustrations. the writings also include Deeds, or copies of deeds, of the reigns of Susenyos, Theophilus, Bakafa, ‘lyasii II., ‘lyo’as, Takla Haimanot, Salomon II., Takla Giyorgis, ‘lyasu III., Ba-‘eda Maryam, and ‘Eguala Seyon or Gwalu. That on f. 278 a records the building of the church which Theophilus had vowed (see f. 19 r) and its endowment.
